Rep. Louie Gohmert (R-Texas) has tested positive for the coronavirus. He made the discovery during Wednesday’s prescreening procedure at the White House.
Last month, the 66-year-old lawmaker said he never wore a mask because he was being tested on a regular basis for coronavirus.
In a new video statement, he suggested he may have caught the virus after contaminating his mask with some of the virus.
“I can’t help but wonder if my keeping a mask on and keeping it in place, if I might have put some of the virus onto the mask and breathed it in. I don’t know, but I got it. We’ll see what happens from here, but the reports of my demise are very premature.” – Louie Gohmert, U.S. Representative
The congressman was supposed to fly to Texas with President Trump on Wednesday. He instead stayed behind and has informed his staff of his test results.
