Nearly 30 members of the same of family tested have positive for COVID-19 in Los Angeles, California. 27-year-old Richard Garay and his father Vidal were quarantined together after they both tested positive for the virus earlier this month.
“It went from, you know, one day being okay to I can’t breathe, I can’t get up, I cannot eat,” Richard recounted.
Vidal died of COVID-19 the day before Father’s Day, while also battling a rare form of anemia. Meanwhile, Richard suffered severe respiratory symptoms and was hospitalized, but later recovered.
“My last words to my dad was, ‘Dad, I don’t think I’m going to make it,” said Richard. “Maybe, my dad was like ‘hey, if you’re going, I’m going too’…that breaks my heart.”
